How Are You Labelling Yourself – ‘Beautiful’ or ‘Average’?

Before watching this video decide which door you will walk through, ‘Beautiful’ or ‘Average’, then observe the consequences.

Labels are simply that, a word slapped on to your forehead that determines your self-esteem, confidence, behaviour and therefore results.  Since you weren’t born criticising yourself, fretting and asking “Does my bum look big in this nappy?”, that label you wear is someone else’s opinion.  Not

right or wrong, truth or lie, simply an opinion.  You have a choice now, as an adult, to continue to wear that label, or start peeling it off to reveal the real you underneath.  If you didn’t wear a ‘shy’ label, or ‘stupid’, or ‘fat and lazy’ or ‘unlovable’, or ‘not enough’ label,  how would you act differently?  How would you live your life now?

If you chose to walk through the ‘Average’ door, how did that feel?  Depressing? Resigned? Sad? Wistful?  What you were really telling yourself was that you aren’t anything special, not unique in any way, simply ‘average’.  ‘Average’ is how you will act, and ‘average’ will be the results  you get.  Deep down, you know, or at least hope, it isn’t true, and that’s why choosing that door didn’t feel so great.

If you chose the ‘Beautiful’ door, well done you.  You understand that ‘Beautiful’ can be internal as well as external, and that definitions of beauty have changed across the centuries, across cultures, and from one person’s taste to another’s.  You understand you are a role model for children around you, and can’t expect them to be confident and resilient if you aren’t modelling that for them.  The only opinion of you that really matters, is your own.  Your own opinion of yourself determines how you show up in the world, and therefore determines how others perceive and treat you.

If you feel unable or unworthy to walk through the ‘Beautiful’ door, then it’s time we had a chat about clearing that head trash of yours. Life is too short not to.

Business note:  How clever is Dove in producing a video, which is really an ad though it doesn’t feel like it, which goes viral in such a short time?
